South Hungary Felt Retreat
May 11-21, 2026

 

In the South-Hungary Felt Retreatwe'll explore the theme of Art Nouveau and Textiles through five-and-a-half-day project-based workshops and museum visits.
We'll meet up in Budapest and take the train to the hostess, Flóra's home town, Szeged near the South border of the country on the bank of River Tisza. We'll spend seven nights in this beautiful city with very vibrant culture where 
we'll also have the opportunity of soaking and rejuvenating in the thermal water of the historic Anna Bath

We'll take a day trip by train to Kecskemét to visit Judit Tóth-Pócs in her home studio. 
Seasonal events, festivities, and exhibits will be incorporated into the itinerary as they are posted to the public.


The internationally recognized instructor team:

Anikó Boros, the master of exquisite fine felt made from 14-16 micron merino wool, will teach a two-day workshop on how to embed pleated silk fabric in superfine merino wool to create pendants or brooches. 

Rózsa Raab the extraordinary tapestry-weaver from Etnomád will teach delicate weaving on a small scale to create small textiles that can be turned into pendants or earrings. 

Flóra Carlile-Kovács, the hostess of the Felt Tours will teach a two-day class sharing the complex pattern she developed to provide width and depth to a purse. Silk fabric can be used for attractive surface design.
