"This was my second felting tour with Flóra with different cities and workshops than last year. Everything was as great as the first tour. Everyday was an adventure. The workshops were excellent, special events of the Festival at the Budapest Castle, Art Museum tours that featured felt pieces, tours of castles and wine cellars, traditional Indigo dye studio, city and country experiences, visits to felt artists studios. I loved the city of Pécs and the surrounding area. Also liked the small size of the tour where you get to know the other participants. And the food!!

"The South Hungary Fiber Tour was an exceptional immersion into felting and embellishment of felted pieces. The workshops were held at either the artists home or a lovely restored barn in a small village, giving us a real taste of rural Hungary. The tour also included exposure to other handcrafts famous to Hungary; embroidery, beading, leather-work, and indigo dying of fabric. The cities of Budapest and Pécs were quite lovely, with architecture that is marvelous and with so much history."

"I attended The South Hungary tour this August 2018. The tour was a wonderful blend of felting workshops and a cultural tour of Hungary. Flóra Carlile-Kovács did a fantastic job of organizing this tour. The accommodation choices were fabulous, the activities organised were varied and interesting, ie, wine tasting, attending the folk art fair in Budapest, visiting various palaces, and museums. Flóra selected some great restaurants for us to sample the local cuisine. The four tutors selected for the three workshops, were very skilled and generous in sharing their skills and knowledge. I had such a great time, learnt a lot and made some new friends."

My wife and I went on the East Hungary felt tour in 2018. What surprised me was how much fun I had participating in the classes and working right along with very talented artisans from different backgrounds. The tour was extremely well organized and we felt completely safe as this was our first trip abroad. The food was amazing and first rate, and our accommodations were excellent and interesting because we stayed at historical hotels and artist retreats. We were a little concerned because we do not speak Hungarian but it wasn't an issue because many people spoke some English and Flora was a superb interpreter when needed. What makes this tour special is Flora. She is a master felter and was always there to help the instructors convey the technical information to the students. She was very organized, fun, knowledgeable , and told us lots of historical facts about each area we visited. Also she knows and has worked with the best teachers in Hungary. It was so inspiring to be with 12 people that all shared the same interest in fiber art. Sharing this experience with them built a bond that we will cherish for a lifetime. A very special tour where you can meet Hungarian people as well as their culture. I appreciated the fact that Flora found a rare book for me. I also enjoyed greatly the exhibition in Budapest. One of the highlights was Judit Pócs’s home and studio. There you can really get into the intimacy of an artist.

We thoroughly enjoyed the entire tour!  The workshops given by world class instructors were beyond our expectations.  The travel arrangements and accommodations were excellent. The occasional need for changes were well handled by Flora. The variety of experiences outside the workshops blended the whole experience into a wonderful tour.

We plan to return for the Southern tour and would highly recommend any of Flora's tour options.

It was a most enjoyable way to see a new country, learning about fibre arts and Hungarian customs. The workshop instructors were the top felters of the region. Their workshops were informative, full of artistic energy and possibilities. But most of all fun! Each instructor added a uniqueness to their workshop. It was a fabulous artistic, cultural experience for me, I was sorry to see it come to an end. Flora's good organizational skills created this well proportioned art felting workshop with Hungarian culture and sightseeing. I will definitely consider future felting tours with Flora

The Felt Tour was an incredibly rich experience, satisfying both the tourist in me and the desire to learn and create. The Workshops and the Hungarian Setting together formed this New Felt which became a permanent and lasting treasure. Thank You, Flora!

As a non-felter I was impressed by the level of instruction. The tour gave access to a variety of techniques all presented in a user friendly way. The combination of cultural activities and workshops was well balanced so that you did not get tired (not another cathedral!) of the culture aspect nor feel that you could not stand to see another piece of yarn.

Flora helped us to experience an 'intimate' Hungary...where we visited more than just the usual 'tourist highlights'. Our felting workshops were perfectly interspersed with our travel experiences...and the Benedictine Pannonhalma Archabbey with its lavender, herb gardens and winery was absolutely 'divine'! ;)

I learned a ton about Hungary and felt making on Flora's Hungary Felt Tour. She is a warm, thoughtful host.

I would recommend Flora's Felt Tour to anyone interested in learning the craft. I had never felted before. It was totally amazing. All the women I went with were truly awesome artists in their own right. Felting is truly a lost art form that needs to be saved. The Tour gave me a new appreciation for "felting" ..... It is definitely labor intensive, but worth all the time and energy it entails. Flora was an outstanding tour guide. Her knowledge of Felting and of her country, Hungary are a win, win !!!
