I really enjoyed the tour!

There was a good variety of things to see & the workshops were good. Hungary has an amazing history! Thank you for everything.

If you love to felt and love to travel you should definitely consider joining Flora on one of her tours. So many learning opportunities and sightseeing.

It would have taken my years to learn all I learned on this tour.

Flóra's felt tours to Hungary are wonderful for anyone interested in feltmaking, folk art, meeting artists and making new friends. The instructors and felting workshops were fun and I learned new techniques for my own projects. The country is beautiful and Flóra is super organized so everything is taken care of for the participants. I have been on 2 tours now and looking forward to future trips with Flora!

Flora's Hungarian Felting tours bring together the perfect blend of learning about felting and Hungarian culture. Flora does an outstanding job of connecting the tour group members with skilled artists who are willing to share their techniques with the tour members.

I throughly enjoyed the East Hungary Felting Tour. It was a great mix of site seeing, learning felting techniques and spending time in a lovely community of felters! I feel I got a taste of Hungary with time in Budapest, smaller cities and towns, organic farm, and the Shepards Festival. So many rich experiences, interesting foods and wonderful friendly people!

I don’t travel much so the South Hungary Tour was a big adventure for me. I felt well looked after, completely safe and can honestly say I enjoyed every aspect of the tour. I would recommend a felt tour without hesitation.

Clare Hughes, UK

On Flóra’s Felt Tour we visited remote villages and beautiful ancient cities. The Felting classes were well presented and challenging. Flóra does a wonderful job of finding interesting side trips and balancing group activities with free time.

There is no equal to traveling, doing what you love, meeting people from different places like England, Nebraska, and Australia! Best of all to be guided by a felting teacher who knows about the country and speaks the language. Flora is above all an artist, but also loves to share the country she came from. I learned about and enjoyed the creative culture of Hungary, not to mention fields and fields of sunflowers!

Soosan, USA

The tour was such a fabulous experience - not just the workshops but learning about Hungary and its culture was delightful and unforgettable.

This trip was an experience of a lifetime. I learned so much that was new to me in the felting workshops while also getting to know the felt artists - and saw Hungary in a way that only a native speaker and citizen could provide. Flora picked the ideal places for us to visit, the most authentic food, and created a Hungarian tour that is unsurpassed. She cared very much about our learning, experience and comfort. I’m eager to go on the next tour with her.

Annette, USA

A way to feel and felt your way through Hungary, with the help of Flóra and her highly professional and friendly team of instructors. It is the real thing! I've done it twice so far. Still counting....

Naomi Rosenblau, New York, NY, USA

The Hungary Felt tour allowed me to improve my felt-making skills through hands-on workshops led by skilled artisans. As a bonus I was able to be a tourist in Hungary learning about Hungarian history, traditions, and current culture. The whole experience was expertly planned and managed by Hungarian-born feltmaker Flóra Carlile-Kovács!

Miriam, USA

This Felting Tour with Flóra Carlile-Kovács was a complete cultural experience. We learned new Felting techniques from Master Felt Artists who shared their expertise. We stayed in unique hotels and lodges, ate special Hungarian food, attended several Festivals, and visited castles and museums. A complete experience for my first tour to Hungary.

I can't recommend this tour enough. This stunning tour offered superb tuition from renowned and accomplished felt artists. A wonderful glimpse into social history and an opportunity to work and skill share with like minded travellers. Led and arranged by the most generous host.

What a wonderful tour. I feel as though I came to know Hungary and its historic felting traditions as well as learning felting techniques from some of the country's contemporary felting artists. Hungary is a fascinating country with a rich heritage and delicious cuisine.

Thank you, Flora.

"Very well planned and executed trip. This was a personal, non corporate journey into the rich culture and felting tradition of Hungary. Flóra packed a lot of knowledge and experience into 12 memorable days."

"This was my second felting tour with Flóra with different cities and workshops than last year. Everything was as great as the first tour. Everyday was an adventure. The workshops were excellent, special events of the Festival at the Budapest Castle, Art Museum tours that featured felt pieces, tours of castles and wine cellars, traditional Indigo dye studio, city and country experiences, visits to felt artists studios. I loved the city of Pécs and the surrounding area. Also liked the small size of the tour where you get to know the other participants. And the food!!
Thank you Flóra for another wonderful experience!"

"Thank you Flóra for organising a fantastic felting tour in Hungary. Not only did I have the opportunity to work with some amazing artists in the workshops, you gave us the opportunity to different sights and places in Hungary during the tour by organising a varied programme where no two days were the same.
Thank you 😊"

"The tour was the perfect balance of culture, history, and hands on projects. Flóra’s attention to detail and her enthusiasm made for a seamless trip. She had a willingness to share her love for her home country and show off its talented artists.

I can’t wait to join another trip."

Geri Forkner

"Flóra organized an amazing tour learning from extraordinarily talented felt crafters. A great balance between hands-on workshops and witnessing the resurgence of folk art in Hungary through visits to the Műcsarnok museum, the ethnographic museums throughout southern Hungary, and the Festival of Folk Arts at the Buda Castle.

Well done!"

"The South Hungary Fiber Tour was an exceptional immersion into felting and embellishment of felted pieces. The workshops were held at either the artists home or a lovely restored barn in a small village, giving us a real taste of rural Hungary. The tour also included exposure to other handcrafts famous to Hungary; embroidery, beading, leather-work, and indigo dying of fabric. The cities of Budapest and Pécs were quite lovely, with architecture that is marvelous and with so much history."

"I attended The South Hungary tour this August 2018. The tour was a wonderful blend of felting workshops and a cultural tour of Hungary. Flóra Carlile-Kovács did a fantastic job of organizing this tour. The accommodation choices were fabulous, the activities organised were varied and interesting, ie, wine tasting, attending the folk art fair in Budapest, visiting various palaces, and museums. Flóra selected some great restaurants for us to sample the local cuisine. The four tutors selected for the three workshops, were very skilled and generous in sharing their skills and knowledge. I had such a great time, learnt a lot and made some new friends."

"The most carefully thought out and conducted tours ever; especially including art fairs and festivals pertaining to the topic being studied. Wonderful."

I've been felting and taking workshops for over 18 years now, yet as the weeks pass and I get the chance to integrate the techniques I learned on Flora's tour into my own work I see afresh how much learning was packed into those 4 workshops. I came home inspired to try many of the new methods and techniques in my own studio, and with a variety of pieces made on the tour to remember my trip by.Good food, good company, experienced friendly instructors, and Flora was a wonderful guide ensuring we also experienced much more of the real Hungary than the average tourist.

My wife and I went on the East Hungary felt tour in 2018. What surprised me was how much fun I had participating in the classes and working right along with very talented artisans from different backgrounds. The tour was extremely well organized and we felt completely safe as this was our first trip abroad. The food was amazing and first rate, and our accommodations were excellent and interesting because we stayed at historical hotels and artist retreats. We were a little concerned because we do not speak Hungarian but it wasn't an issue because many people spoke some English and Flora was a superb interpreter when needed. What makes this tour special is Flora. She is a master felter and was always there to help the instructors convey the technical information to the students. She was very organized, fun, knowledgeable , and told us lots of historical facts about each area we visited. Also she knows and has worked with the best teachers in Hungary. It was so inspiring to be with 12 people that all shared the same interest in fiber art. Sharing this experience with them built a bond that we will cherish for a lifetime. A very special tour where you can meet Hungarian people as well as their culture. I appreciated the fact that Flora found a rare book for me. I also enjoyed greatly the exhibition in Budapest. One of the highlights was Judit Pócs’s home and studio. There you can really get into the intimacy of an artist.

Another magnificent, memorable trip. I loved the mix of culture, walking and bathing, shopping and creating. My second time and I like to come again another year. thank you Flora.

We thoroughly enjoyed the entire tour!  The workshops given by world class instructors were beyond our expectations.  The travel arrangements and accommodations were excellent. The occasional need for changes were well handled by Flora. The variety of experiences outside the workshops blended the whole experience into a wonderful tour.

We plan to return for the Southern tour and would highly recommend any of Flora's tour options.

It was a most enjoyable way to see a new country, learning about fibre arts and Hungarian customs. The workshop instructors were the top felters of the region. Their workshops were informative, full of artistic energy and possibilities. But most of all fun! Each instructor added a uniqueness to their workshop. It was a fabulous artistic, cultural experience for me, I was sorry to see it come to an end. Flora's good organizational skills created this well proportioned art felting workshop with Hungarian culture and sightseeing. I will definitely consider future felting tours with Flora

Wilma Pratt (East Hungary Felt Tour, 2017)

The Felt Tour was an incredibly rich experience, satisfying both the tourist in me and the desire to learn and create. The Workshops and the Hungarian Setting together formed this New Felt which became a permanent and lasting treasure. Thank You, Flora!

As a non-felter I was impressed by the level of instruction. The tour gave access to a variety of techniques all presented in a user friendly way. The combination of cultural activities and workshops was well balanced so that you did not get tired (not another cathedral!) of the culture aspect nor feel that you could not stand to see another piece of yarn.

Brian Brown (accompanying husband in the East Hungary Tour, 2017)

I can highly recommend this extremely well organised trip. The itinerary was very well arranged and flexible to accommodate additional places to visit or activities. The workshops were top class and catered for all abilities. I would definitely go again!

I loved the trip and highly recommend it to anyone who loves to travel and felts. Hoping that I can go again next year!

Deborah Pontious (West Hungary Tour, 2017)

Flora helped us to experience an 'intimate' Hungary...where we visited more than just the usual 'tourist highlights'. Our felting workshops were perfectly interspersed with our travel experiences...and the Benedictine Pannonhalma Archabbey with its lavender, herb gardens and winery was absolutely 'divine'! ;)

Heather Karlheim (West Hungary Tour, 2017)

I learned a ton about Hungary and felt making on Flora's Hungary Felt Tour. She is a warm, thoughtful host.

I would recommend Flora's Felt Tour to anyone interested in learning the craft. I had never felted before. It was totally amazing. All the women I went with were truly awesome artists in their own right. Felting is truly a lost art form that needs to be saved. The Tour gave me a new appreciation for "felting" ..... It is definitely labor intensive, but worth all the time and energy it entails. Flora was an outstanding tour guide. Her knowledge of Felting and of her country, Hungary are a win, win !!!

Flora was such a gracious host for this action packed felting tour. Every concession was made to include something for everyone regardless of your interest. I am recommending Hungary to all those who want to visit or to tour and felt!
